On average, that is the minimum percent of time you will spend at work per week, not including commute, lunch, or overtime. Add in an hour long daily commute and a thirty minute lunch, and that puts you just over 28%.
Chances are you spend a quarter or more of your time every week at or en route to work. The percentage is greater if you’re only looking at M-F.
If that doesn’t motivate you to work in something you love, think about this:
Over the course of a year, you will spend roughly 2000 hours working. (40 hours a week for 50 weeks.) That’s a lot of time to do something you love, or do something you hate. That’s also a big opportunity to get really good at something, or not.
find something you love,
find an interesting problem,
find a challenge you are passionate to take on.
Because 40hrs a week adds up real quick.
