Change is scary

Change makes you vulnerable.

And regardless of who you are, being vulnerable is scary.

It’s unsettling. It’s risky. Too risky for comfort. Even for someone who identifies as risky (like me).

So we put change off because we’re busy, or not ready, or people like me don’t do those things, or fill-in-the-blank; and we may put it off nearly indefinitely.

There are tons of reasons not to do something.

But change may still be worth it.

[Note: I’ve been putting off writing out of fear: fear of not having anything to say, fear of wasting your time, fear of you-name-it. In sum, the fear of opening up — the fear of being vulnerable.]

What change are you putting off?
